Introduction to Lens-Based Vision Correction 

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is a vision correction procedure in which the eye’s natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens. The surgery is performed to reduce refractive errors and improve visual performance. It is commonly considered for patients with high refractive errors or those who may not be suitable candidates for laser vision correction.

Customized Lens Replacement for Long-Term Vision Improvement

This procedure is performed under topical or local anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and precise surgical control. The eye and surrounding area are prepared using antiseptic solutions and protected with sterile Nivda Ophthalmic Drapes to maintain a controlled surgical environment. A small corneal incision is created, and microsurgical ophthalmic instruments are used to access the natural lens safely. The natural lens is gently fragmented and removed while preserving surrounding ocular structures and the capsular bag. A selected intraocular lens is implanted to provide customized visual correction based on the patient’s refractive needs. After confirming lens alignment and eye stability, sterile protective materials are applied to support recovery and reduce postoperative infection risk.
