Introduction to Squint Correction Surgery 

Strabismus (Squint) Surgery is an ophthalmic procedure used to correct abnormal alignment of the eyes. The surgery adjusts the position or tension of selected eye muscles so the eyes can work together more effectively. It may be performed in children or adults when appropriate non-surgical treatments do not adequately correct the eye misalignment.

Precision Eye Muscle Adjustment for Improved Ocular Alignment

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in many children and under local or general anesthesia in selected adults, depending on the surgical plan. The eye and surrounding area are prepared with antiseptic solutions and covered using sterile Nivda Ophthalmic Drapes to maintain a clean and controlled surgical field. The surgeon makes a small opening in the conjunctiva to access the extraocular muscles responsible for eye movement. Depending on the type and severity of strabismus, muscles may be recessed, resected, repositioned, or adjusted to improve the alignment of the eyes. Fine ophthalmic instruments and microsurgical sutures are used to secure the muscles in their planned positions while preserving surrounding tissues. After confirming satisfactory alignment and wound closure, sterile ophthalmic disposables are used to protect the eye and support postoperative recovery.
