Overview of Ultrasound-Assisted Cataract Removal

Phacoemulsification Surgery is a modern cataract removal procedure used to restore clear vision. During the surgery, the cloudy natural lens of the eye is broken into tiny fragments using ultrasound energy and then removed. A clear artificial intraocular lens is implanted to replace the removed lens and improve vision.

Microsurgical Cataract Removal with Advanced Vision Restoration

This procedure is performed under local or topical anesthesia while the patient remains comfortable and awake. The eye and surrounding area are prepared using sterile Nivda Ophthalmic Drapes to establish a controlled surgical field. A small corneal incision is created, and a specialized phacoemulsification probe uses ultrasound vibrations to break the cataract into microscopic fragments. The fragmented lens material is removed through aspiration while preserving the capsular bag that supports the new lens. A foldable intraocular lens is then inserted through the small incision and positioned accurately inside the eye. After confirming lens placement and ocular stability, the procedure is completed with sterile protection to minimize infection risk and support rapid recovery.
